The following case study demonstrates how SpecialEyes fully customizable soft contact lenses can provide a more comfortable fit and optimal vision for your post-surgery patients and patients with high myopia refractions.

A male patient presented to the practice having a scleral buckle due to recent surgery to correct a detached retina. The patient is a high myope with astigmatism and previously wearing Biofinity soft contact lenses. Due to this patient’s steep corneas, the practitioner decided to prescribe the SpecialEyes 54 Toric Custom Contact Lenses.

The practice presented SpecialEyes with the following parameters:

Keratometry Readings:

 OD: 45.75/47.75

 OS: 45.75/48.25

 Manifest Refraction:

 OD: -12.50 -2.00 x 025

 OS: -10.00 -2.25 x 158

The initial trial toric contact lenses were designed using the SpecialEyes Arc Length Calculator. Our Arc Length Calculator is available on our website and is easy to use. It is an excellent tool for contact lens fitters to design their own SpecialEyes custom contact lenses utilizing a sagittal depth fitting philosophy by providing the patient’s keratometry readings and manifest refraction. Based on the results from the calculator, the trial lenses were ordered with the following powers and parameters:

SpecialEyes 54 Soft Toric Custom Contact Lenses:

 OD: 7.9/14.5 -10.75 -1.50 x 025

 OS: 7.9/14.5 -9.00 -1.75 x 158

Upon initial contact lens dispense, the SpecialEyes Toric contact lenses provided stable vision with best-corrected vision being 20/25- on the OD and 20/20-2 on the OS; OU best-corrected vision was 20/20.

The patient denied any comfort issues at the end of the day and quote, “LOVES them!”. No remakes were needed, and a supply order was placed.
