Eye Care Practitioners should recommend a contact lens-care system that is appropriate for SpecialEyes’ custom soft contact lenses.
Each lens-care product contains specific directions for use and important safety information, which should be read and carefully followed. While commercial solutions from Alcon®, Allergan®, and similar brands are compatible with SpecialEyes custom soft contact lenses, our lenses have specifically been tested with Alcon products. Therefore, we recommend using Alcon products with our complete line of custom contact lenses. If contact-lens wearers experience protein deposits, we recommend Alcon’s OPTI-FREE® SupraClens® Daily Protein Remover or a hydrogen-peroxide system such as Clear Care®. For further information, please refer to the Professional Fitting Guide, Package Insert, and Wearer’s Instruction Guide for your lens material. You can find downloadable PDF versions of these documents for each lens material on the Toric & Sphere and Multifocal product pages.
We have found that a small percentage of patients may encounter a lens-handling learning curve when moving into our high-performance, high-water lens materials. However, after learning and implementing some simple SpecialEyes contact lens care & handling tips, they should be able to obtain months of great vision from our custom soft contact lenses. Once patients have been informed of these handling requirements, tears are much less likely to occur; which should minimize or eliminate the need for warranty lens replacement.
