Contact Lens Industry Developments at SpecialEyes

Check out this post and catch up on what happened with SpecialEyes and the contact lens industry in 2015. Read highlights

SpecialEyes 2015 Recap

Given all the advancements in contact lens design and technology introduced during 2015, it is no wonder many contact lens industry professionals are eager to see what 2016 holds in store! Our team is heading back from previewing the future of contact lenses at the annual Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS). During our return travels from the symposium, we wanted to recap some of SpecialEyes’ favorite moments from the past year.

SPECIALEYES MULTIFOCAL SIMULATOR
In 2015, we focused on our newest product: the custom soft SpecialEyes 54 Multifocal Toric contact lens. To support the implementation of a pupil-size fitting methodology, we released a Multifocal Simulator that assists eye-care professionals and educators in designing and prescribing SpecialEyes 54 Multifocal contact lenses. The Multifocal Simulator not only improved patient success rates but has also revolutionized the way our customers and consultants fit custom multifocal contact lenses. In 2016, SpecialEyes will continue to focus on improving patient outcomes and educating the contact lens industry on why pupil size matters when fitting multifocal contact lenses.

VOLK AND SPECIALEYES PARTNERSHIP
The Multifocal Simulator was not SpecialEyes’ only technological advancement in 2015. Last year we partnered with Volk Optical to integrate the SpecialEyes Arc Length Contact Lens Calculator with the Volk Eye Check device. Volk Eye Check’s contact lens (CL) mode allows practitioners to easily obtain key ocular measurements for each patient and upload them to a server, where the SpecialEyes Arc Length Calculator processes the data. As a result of the collaboration between SpecialEyes, Volk Optical, and IRISS Medical Technologies, eye-care practitioners can now identify the best custom lens design in seconds, fit specialty contact lenses in fewer sessions, decrease revenue loss from contact lens dropouts, and improve patient satisfaction. JOYFUL CELEBRATIONS

Whether it is a holiday, birthday, or simply a staff meeting, the SpecialEyes team always finds a fun way to commemorate the occasion. Our annual year-end event was held in the Wine Cellar at Michael’s on East. In addition to featuring amazing food and wine (a SpecialEyes tradition), the evening was particularly notable because a special visitor, Joanna Chmiel, came home to join the party. Joanna, who has been with SpecialEyes since 2011 and boasts nearly 10 years of experience in the contact lens industry, is currently attending the University of Missouri. While furthering her education, Joanna continues to work remotely for SpecialEyes. It was such a treat having the whole crew together! For a peek at how we work and play, check out these photos of the SpecialEyes team celebrating in 2015.

2015 in SUMMARY
For the SpecialEyes team, 2015 was filled with hard work, travel, and fun! In the past year, we traveled to nearly a dozen different states, worked with seven optometry schools, and met countless contact lens industry professionals. Members of our executive team also connected with international eye-care specialists at the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Research Symposium. As we gear up for the year ahead, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to SpecialEyes’ customers for their continued support and trust. We count it a true honor to serve you and your patients, and we pledge to continue developing and delivering the most advanced products in the contact lens industry.
Here's to a great 2016!
